Since 1919, we’ve been showing up for the children and youth of Huntsville — not just writing checks, but rolling up our sleeves.
We’re a club of about 40 members who believe that investing in kids today builds a stronger community tomorrow. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
We sponsor 7 Key Clubs, 1 Builders Club, and 1 Aktion Club — giving young people in Huntsville real leadership experience
We award over $7,000 in scholarships to local students every year
We organize and host the Madison County Spelling Bee, connecting students across the county in healthy academic competition
Our Phonics Phone Project is bringing literacy tools to ESOL students in Huntsville schools, supported by a $2,000 Service Project Grant from the Alabama District Kiwanis Foundation
We support multiple local community service organizations annually through our Foundation
But none of this happens without people who care enough to show up.
We meet 40 times a year — 20 in person at the Elks Lodge on Franklin St SE and 20 via Zoom — so there’s a format that works for any schedule.
If you’re looking for a way to make a real difference in Huntsville — and connect with others who feel the same way — we’d love to meet you.
Kiwanis is a global volunteer organization with one focus: improving the lives of children and communities. Founded in 1915, Kiwanis now has over 600,000 members in 80 countries — and the Huntsville chapter has been part of that mission since 1919.
Watch the short video below to see what Kiwanis is all about — or keep reading to learn more about our local club.
In short — Kiwanis members are everyday people who show up consistently for their communities. No special background required. Just a willingness to serve.
Our annual Pancake Day fundraiser was a success—and we couldn’t have done it without you.
A huge thank you to our volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who showed up to flip pancakes, support our youth programs, and strengthen Huntsville together.
This morning’s proceeds fund the work that matters: scholarships for deserving students, our Key Club and Builders Club leadership programs, the county Spelling Bee, and direct support to local organizations making a real difference in our community.
Whether you flipped, bought, or sponsored—you invested in the next generation. That’s what Kiwanis is about.
See you next year.
